Visited link colours

There has recently been some discussion on dw_suggestions of having visited links be a different colour from unvisited links. There's a request for it to be changed for Tropospherical in particular.

Does this count as an accessibility issue, and if so, is it worth pushing it forwards at all? It sounds like the sort of thing which should be a quick fix.

Yes, but it should be as flexible as possible so the end user can chose exactly what they need and prefer. Finding properly contrasting sets of link colours against different background colours is difficult at the best of times, when you start to factor in different levels of colour perception it can become a real tangle. So giving the end user the ultimate control for every basic style should be the goal.

I think we already have that level of customisation for journal styles in core2. I also think it's difficult to make site schemes customisable in that way, because of the way they're created and coded, though it would be good to have more options.
