customising numbers on html?

I understand there's algorithms to generate the html number on entries, and that these aren't consecutive to protect privacy. I'm wondering if it's possible to personalise these to generate numbers that can prime-factorise or end with certain integers (such as 5 or 0?), for those of us with OCD? I know this is an issue for at least two other people besides me.

Thanks in advance!

Could you explain why your suggestion would benefit those with OCD? I don't know enough about the condition to understand.

Patterns and numbers that do not conform to the compulsion of a person with OCD can cause a strong and persistent mental distress for some of us, and this could include the numbers in URLs.

Hm. It's not really possible, not without essentially rewriting things from the ground up on how we treat the concept of an 'entry', unfortunately. The amount of effort would be tremendously disproportionate to the number of people who would benefit, and among the people who would benefit from it, there would be enough variation in what they'd need that it would get really messy, really quickly.

However! We do have a bug open for doing "pretty" URLs in the future -- letting you define a 'slug' for your entry, which would then become part of the URL. It won't replace the number/itemID, but it will be added to it. So instead of denise.dreamwidth.org/12345.html, you could have, say, denise.dreamwidth.org/12345/five-things-make-a-post.html, or whatever you specified to use as the slug. Maybe that will help!
